We discuss their latest album, Thunderbird Lodge, which is the second part in a three-part concept album series. Ryan talks about the origins of the band, how it evolved from his previous project, Awesome Car Fun Maker, and the recording process that involved piecing together ideas in the studio rather than coming in with fully formed songs.
He tells me the album follows a cyborg character with extra-dimensional beings. All the while, Eric, who was camping in the wilderness, keeps popping in and out of the interview because of the spotty connection he has at his cabin, which was very amusing.
