FC Stoffel - Industrial Metal, Creative Commons, and Netlabels - The Lorenzo's Music Podcast
Listen on:
In this episode of Lorenzo’s Music Podcast, I meet FC Stoffel, a Cologne-based musician in the Creative Commons band Die Leere Im Kern Deiner Hoffnung, and founder of the Netlabel der kleine grüne Würfel. Stoffel talks about the label’s beginnings in the city’s techno scene, the Cologne Commons festival, and the challenges of finding a place for Creative Commons music today.
We discuss his industrial post-industrial duo with his wife Doris, and their album. Stoffel shares how they write politically charged German lyrics, and record in their rehearsal space, and bring their performance to the stage. We also talk about netlabels, music licensing, and why we hope the creative side of Creative Commons will get more attention.
Key Takeaways
- Creative Commons: Open licenses for sharing and reusing songs.
- Netlabel Curation: Music netlabels and playlists help people discover and share music online.
- CCMusic Community: Independent CCMusic scenes with shared taste, and people showing up for one another.
- DIY Music: Using independent platforms that offer ownership, not just distribution.
